You may remember that last year I was the Bronze sponsor of the whisky tumbler emoji that we’ve all been waiting for quite some time.
This year Unicode Consortium approved a new set of emojis among which we see The Saltire along with flags of England and Wales.
The Unicode Consortium has a campaign called Adopt-A-Character that gives the opportunity to permanently adopt and dedicate an emoji, letter or any symbol on the keyboard.
Meleklerin Payi Proud Sponsor of the Scottish Flag
To show my appreciation to the sunshine in our glasses and the beautiful country that it originated, I sponsored the emoji code U+1F3F4 U+E0067 U+E0062 U+E0073 U+E0063 U+E0074 U+E007F which is The Saltire. It will be a great pleasure for me to know that I have a small contribution whenever a Scotland flag is shared when people travel to this beautiful land.
Emoji will have slight modifications in different platforms:

02.11.2017: iOS 11.1 is released today and it’s wonderful to see that the flag is added to the emoji set.
Scotland Flag
Known as St Andrews Cross or The Saltire, this flag is known to be one of the oldest flags in the world. Dedicated to the X shaped cross on which Scotland’s patron saint, St Andrews was crucified, this flag was first used back in 1180 by King William I. In 1801 it was combined with crosses of England and then Irleand to form the Union Jack which is the official flag of UK now.
